If the Lasex is working so well are you taking anything to rebalance the salts lost?
Cz im stupid and i cannot get a hold of my doctor so im left stranded like a nobody that ive become.. thnx but its useless n im not even tryin to care anymore...just sick of it alk...doing the wrong thing cz i have a lack of knowledge and i am told by the so called doctor who by the way is clueless in this breathing n swelling thing.. he says take it one way and three wks later i have to take the pill another way why ? Cannot get one dann person to help...so thats it.. its called "Stupidity" and i am the chairman of it !
Please, Jimmy, don't call yourself stupid when the doctor won't help. he won't because he can't. You are not stupid at all. apart from what I told you above, i can't help my feet. I massage them with oil, Nivea, Neutrogena, but it doesn't improve! The skin looks a bit better that's all!
When we sweat and pee we loose water and body salts. Called electrolytes. Diuretic pills, water pills, make ppl pee more but also they loose more salts so the tablets are often given with a medication that rebalances the electrolytes. I know that one of the biggest differences in US V UK is the names of drugs and which ones can be bought over the counter. A pharmacy should be able to advice you Jimmy. It sounds to my wife, who is a RN, that this may be the problem. Regards Rib
Hi Rib, this is probably a good advice. We don't get told about putting back the salts or electrolytes. I don't even know if a chemist would advise on this. The balance you are talking about is a delicate one. How do we know if we are "unbalanced" in this way? I visit a haematologist because I lack white blood cells (neutropoenia). This is the person who could tell me, but the never tells me that my electrolytes count is too low or deficient in some way...
Blood circulation maybe the issue caused by heart failure or veins in leg can't stop back flow. Definitely a doctor's call. Does the situation relieve itself when you lie down? Cardiovascular exercise should help, but I would get a doctors input first.
Hi Jimmy. I know well the feeling of swollen feet and legs. Very painful. I have been on diuretics (pee pills) for years but recently discovered they were not working properly. Ended up in hospital unable to breathe.
They then realised that my whole body was full of fluid!!! Put me on IV Furusomide and had to have a catheter but I lost over 3 stone in weight in a fortnight. ALL FLUID!!! I feel like a new woman. See if you can contact a respiratory nurse or different Doctor. Ask to be referred to a consultant. Best of luck. Kathy.
Sorry Jimmy cant help with that one, there are lots of reasons for the swelling so best check with your G P.
One of the causes of "coughing from the chest" is lung edema, which, together with feeling weak and having swollen ankles might be from heart failure.
Also steroids can make for swollen ankles feet and legs. Mine are at last going down after long spell of steroids. Also weather affects mine ... warmer and fatter cooler and thinner!
Jimmyr, "do i place padding in my souls ?" I like that, don't know if that will help, but in your shoes it might reduce the pain, but not the swelling!
I get swollen feet, and especially my left ankle. I wear compression socks; that helps a little. But in the evening, my ankles are still a bit swollen. If you do some exercises with your legs, especially moving the calf muscle ( on a static bike, for instance) it helps a bit too; only a bit, though. All the docs and consultants I've told just reply, Mmm! I take some Furosemide. It makes me pee, it helps a bit. But there you are, I suppose if you help a bit here and a bit there, it should help on the whole. You could mention it to your GP, that's the best person. She/he might prescribe water tablets to you to make the flow go. But really, the cause of the swelling is the little veins in your ankles and feet get distorted and don't push the blood upward very well. You could put your legs up. I find it difficult to type on the PC with my legs up. OK. I'll stop here! If you find something, please tell me.
I cheat Helingmic. I write all my posts on my phone. Rib
Me, it's my fridge that does all the work!!!
