I have tried hypnotherapy for various things but not effective for me but I have heard success stories. I would ask your respiratory nurse or GP for their advice before you spend your money. x

I found it worked for me, in fact it changed my life for the better. You need to find a true professional, too many fakes out there, and you must have faith in who ever does it.

I started with a cd which to be honest I thought at first was a joke, but I suddenly noticed a difference. The basic idea was to create in your mind a place you can go when you start to panic, in my case I created a rose garden. You imagine entering the garden and looking around and the panic eases off.

I then sought out a professional, I had four sessions with him, things that had caused panic attacks were so much easier to control, then once I had beaten them a couple of times they disappeared. One example was the toilet/washrooms in our local hospital, they are windowless and hot, hell to copd sufferers, in fact two people died in there while I was in residence. I was needless to say terrified of going into them, one session of therapy and they presented no problem by then it had become powerful enough to really help.

Well worth a try, you can download therapy sessions or purchase cd's from the web, which means you can listen to them before actually doing them, don't be put off if they sound as if they will not help, sit back, relax and play it several times, when the next panic attack starts you will hopefully be able to use the information stored in your brain. Good luck.

I've been thinking about it for years but not tried yet.

There is a very interesting couple, Nik and Eva Speakman, who currently have a daytime programme showing how they cure various phobias. Their success after a short session looks amazing although who knows if it takes longer. I'm so tempted to contact them but imagine they're unbelievably expensive! :(
