Hello and welcome wraygirl79. I'm afraid most doctors don't know as much about COPD as us lot who suffer with it. We aren't professionals but we have a wealth of knowledge between us so ask away and I hope we can help.

Welcome to the group. I have only very recently become part of it and I have learned so much and just knowing everyone is out there makes me feel less anxious....I smoked for 51 years so naturally most people put on "that" face when I tell them about my COPD emphysema the face that says "your own fault, you shouldn't have smoked" and even those in my age group that used to send cigarettes to the soldiers during the war put on that face.....Ah well...they cat't help it, bless them. :)

You have smoked 40 years or are still smoking after 40 years?

I rather hope that you have quit because that is the first step in making the rest of your life livable.

Still you are lucky, there is quite a decent bunch of people on here that are more than willing to help and encourage you during the darker moments . . . . . and believe me we all get them.

So Welcome wraygirl79. Hopefully you have found a new home.

Afternoon everyone! I'm not new to this sight as I've been here before as My 5 yr old son has asthma but now last Monday I had been diagnosed by our GP after an x-ray that I have elemetary c.o.p.d after two lots of antibiotics not clearing up an infection since February this year and no end of coughing and mucous build up,I went on Friday gone to have a spirometry test which I could hardly blow into without coughing sometimes, the nurse wrote down on paper c.o.p.d? and I told her that's what the doctor said I had I had one of my daughter's with me too at the time,so I didn't hear wrong, the nurse said the reading from the spirometry machine said the reading is 68 what ever that is and put question mark! I've been put on symbicort aswell & felt some relief from the coughing even though it hasn't gone completely but from Saturday I have had a sore throat and tongue and feel's like the mucous is starting up again anyone else suffering from the same symptoms is this the norm with this medication plus I feel completely worn out!?
