I have bronch: and emph: It's always a good idea to exercise and eat healthy. You did the right thing giving up smoking. It might be a good idea to have a word with a qualified trainer at the gym, or, blf to make sure you are doing the correct exercise's. Good luck

Hi Lucylily54, why not ask your health professional for a referral to Pulmonary Rehabilitation if there is one in your area. The sessions are free and cover not only exercise but all other aspects of lung health i.e. diet, using your medications correctly and the British Lung Foundation. You could always ring the BLF for any advice. Good luck and take care, Lizzy.

There is always hope to improve inflammation, but try to avoid any irritants for your lungs including infections. You ought to improve a lot now you don,t smoke but at least by giving up you should prolong the good health in the future. Well done on the ciggy,s keep it up and things should get better still.

I gave up smoking in 1992 and my GP classes me as a non smoker now. i think you have to give it a few years to get al the gunk and damage repaired.

Before going to the gym, check this building up exercise called Qi Gong: There are 8 to stretch your body with breathing - qi gong integrates breathing in their exercise for health.

Watch them all and then do them one by one.

There are many videos of this sort, have your pick with a good explanation in good English!
