I'm no expert but I wouldn't have thought so. The best thing is to call the people who decided you need it and ask for their advice.
Thank you I shall ask advice to-morrow Lola,
You should only use oxygen as prescribed. Too much oxygen can be dangerous please return the flow meter to your prescribed flow rate. Speak to your respiratory team as soon as possible.
It's not a problem. As you are concerned and clearly this was a mistake you're doing the right thing and sticking to the prescribed level. Too much O2 is dangerous for people who are CO2 retainers (a small minority) , but per my husband's consultant the problem for everyone is that if you use a higher level consistently your lungs get used to not working so hard, thereby making your condition worse.
Thank you AbbyRudi I shall pay more attention it only went to 5 for a few moments but as I am new to oxygen and only use it moving around and out shopping I was worried, but you have set my mind at rest The oxygen Nurse was not available Regards Lola
no worry at all. I usually use 4 lpm flow but sometimes when climbing stairs for example put mine up to 6. I told my nurse and she said that is fine. I turn it back down as soon as my breathing is normal again after climbing 'everest'..
