I have not had one but wondered why they are recommending you have one? Is your COPD severe or is your daily living severly impared? Just curious of the symptoms or criteria that they use to determine you should consider LVR surgery?

Best of luck if you do go ahead with it.

Hi lockjean i to have been recommended by a specialist to have lung reduction, it goes by many different stages and those who have severe copd are asked, my age was a factor im in my late 40 s and they say it would give me a better way of life,id like to no about the after effects and how daily living can approve , i have not made a decision yet im scared, take care xx

I was supposed to have lung reduction but fractured my spine and so was put on hold for 12 months. Now I am told after tests that I cannot have it because the damage to

your lungs has to be just in the top area. The most recent results show that the condition emphysema has gone further down the lungs, which means this op would not be beneficial for me now. If only I hadn't fractured my spine I might have had it done by now. My Specialist is seeing if I am eligible for the springs down the lungs!

This was done on NHS but they have stopped it now, NICE stopped it. It is only done

in London on a trial basis. I am awaiting to hear if I am suitable. In the meanwhile I have been put on the Uniphillin tablets 200 twice per day. Just started today, will have to take a blood test in 10 days time.

Has anyone had the spring down their lungs, is so how are they and where did they get this op done.

Thank you all and happy Xmas xx
