Do antibiotics not work for you Fedup? Is that why you are on steriods ?
Hi Guys
Thanks to all for support and love. Antibiotics were a monthly event for regular exacerbation so my consultant has put me on lowish dose of daily Prednesolone .Have had COPD for about 5 years or more now.Still full time working and travelling round the world -I'm stubborn !
Also have severe sleep apnoea. So have a CPAP machine at night. Mostly keep upbeat and happy Good social life but sometimes it sucks big time
Ha Ha
Oh fedup. Know how you feel. I'm not on steroids but I also get so fed up. Try to be positive everyone says but it is hard. There are some wonderful people on here who will help you with questions, answers and cheer you up. Keep tuned in. Hugs
Come on fedup you can still be a woman into fashion and keep fit. You just have to adapt. I know it's not easy but as soon as you can find your way you'll feel much better. We all get like this it's the nature of this beast. Finding this community will help you no end. When you feel better you'll have to change your name. Chin up.x
Ask your GP for a referral to a pulmonary rehabilitations course, it can set you back on the road to improving your fitness levels and help build some bone density and stamina, especially if you aim to keep it up. It can be a long uphill haul if you have de-conditioned but with persistence in a year 2 and 3 you will look back and be amazed how far you have come. Do nothing and you will likely keep deteriorating, hard facts but true.

Saved it Blakey. Thank you. Missed it first time round. I'm still awaiting my appointment for Rehab but am looking forward to it.
Nice one Jonesbones I agree no foundation for me though. X
You will soon be unfedup with this forum talking to you. Wondering about the thinning hair - all depends how severe it is as to what you can do about it. Think there must be a clinic to help you. Try Google. I am not suggesting that you need to go to extreme measures but my friend had real probs with hair and never looked back once she purchased a wig. And she looked stunning. Only a suggestion and hope you want take offence --love pergola x
Just thinking about the thinning hair, there is an argan oil hair treatment which may help, I can't say myself if it works but it is suggested as being a good hair treatment, you can buy on ebay and amazon, but here is a UK link if you want to read more about it.

( Argon oil not suitable if you use oxygen)
The other thing that will help your health and your hair is eating a good diet.
Here is a link concerning foods for healthy hair:

The link below to BLF search page, it includes Healthy Eating and Eating well for healthier lungs:

I agree with Blakey I use argon oil it's very good but not cheap but they are selling it at asda very cheap try and get some to see what you think you only use the same amount as you would a shampoo the difference is it doesn't soap don't be tempted to use more try to get hold of toil too a drop is all you need to rub into your hair after washing. Fantastic stuff. X
Welcome to the form I know how you feel abut the steroids I'm on them right now for a lupus flair and each time I'm on the I gain another few lbs.
Hi Fedupinventor. Thinning hair and weight gain plus all the other side effects of steroid use is no fun. I did modelling for a few years and always liked to look my best, still do. My once thick hair is now thin and limp and like you I feel I am looking much older than my years. Just try to look as groomed as you can when you feel like it. Some days I just want to stay in my pyjamas!
You have had some very good advice from previous replies which I intend to hijack for myself. I am on steroids pretty well permanently now and usually on a high dose too. It's not something we can choose unfortunately. Just be kind to yourself. We can be our own worse critics. Regards Sara.
If the side effects of steroids get me down, I just spend a couple of minutes thinking about where I would be without them....no contest. So I keep taking them and adapt to the situation.
You can still keep fit - I found swimmig was the thing for me (I appreciate its not for everyone) and walking - I can't walk far but I love it and now have a puppy to walk so I have no excuse. I know exactly how you feel - I took care of my appearance and liked nice clothes but I still carried on - maybe using a bit more slap than I used to!
The thing with steroids is they make you feel hungry so you eat more - its about having the right things at hand to satisfy those cravings. If you can undertake some exercise and make those changes you shoudl not only feel better about yourself but in yourself too. I am never happier after a long swim - endorphins are a wonderful thing.
Good luck
Marie x
