Progress report

I'm so pleased to tell all you lovely people who have helped me this last week that my husband is actually making a bit of progress! Still puffing but definitely not coughing and choking as he'd been doing. We've now got to wait a couple of weeks or so before he can have his oxygen properly assessed. It looks likely that he will need to use this, which I'm still trying to get my head around because I have no idea of what is involved. We are still hoping to be able to do our cruise to Norway Fjords in May so I will have to find out what I need to do to organise his oxygen - so if anyone has taken oxygen on a cruise, I'd be very grateful for any advice. Until you know the oxygen requirements there is little you can do.

Question to ask can you use a conserving device , also known as pulse/ on demand.

Rather than continuos.

One to look at. When travelling is POC. Portable oxygen concentrator , these are available from your oxygen supplier ether full time or for holidays.

The main thing-is to discuss with your oxygen team all of your requirements and goals, this will help them serve you best.

Such great news Janann25. When you are in the middle of an exacerbation it is so difficult to see any light at the end of the tunnel. So glad your husband is turning the corner. My husband was prescribed oxygen last summer - try to look at it as another medication - that sort of helped me. Once you deal with the shock element and realise how much it will help your husbands quality of life. Good luck with the cruise I am sure you both deserve it. Lots of love TAD xx
