Oh the old money my holiday job was in Woolworths. The amount of people who said I gave you half a crown on examining their change so we had to put their money on the ledge of the till until they had taken their change. If the made a fuss the manager had to check the till. Happy days. They knew they only gave you two bob.

wow i remember them i used to save and when i got enough change i would get a 10 bob note and i think i got about 5 of them and thought i was a very rich kid with £2,50 pence

I remember in about 1939 being sent to the shops with half a crown and lost it down a grid. Wow what trouble I was in. Popplewell

Me too. I was playing with a friend on way to shops walking over a railway bridge dropped the money and most of it rolled down onto the railway lines. So scared to tell.

I always wanted an ice cream but my brother who was older wouldn't give me my share of the money. He put it towards chips and crackling then ate half my share. Did I sulk.
