Hi debsy.

You don't say your mum's pain is in the lung area but in any case she should always have any

unaccounted pain investigated. I've never heard of mild COPD causing pain but I'm no expert.

She should certainly see her doc. Best of luck.

Hi Debsy

I have moderate COPD and suffer with pain to the right side of my back in the lung area but having recently had pluerisy and chest infection x/ray showed infection now clear but pain still present G.P is putting it down to strain with coughing so much. Would be interested to know if pain in lung area is common with COPD.

Hi Janetj

Chest pain seems to be fairly common with copd sufferers and can range from mild to fairly intense mainly depending on the stage of the disease or if a lung illness is coming on. It also tends to be experienced in different ways by different sufferers. I don't get much pain myself and I am at the severe stage so I guess I have something to be thankful for!

Thank-you Butterfly that helps a lot. Lost my Dad to Emphysemia in 95 and I know he always suffered with pain in the back but he also had a hardening in his lungs that reduced his lung capacity think it was caused by working with dust for most of his life.
