I've got mouth thrush. Day 6 today. Second time in 6 month. I'm taking nystatin , Daktarin , plain yoghurt , pro- B, panadine for pain help
Try rinsing with salt water.
My GP suggested this after months trying prescription treatments. This seemed to work the best!
Sorry to hear you're suffering. I can't help but I do know the plain yogurt has to be live, active yogurt and you must cut out sugars as this feeds the fungal infections. Good luck P
lysterine mouth wash is good and works for me
Hi Shabbash about a month ago I had a really bad chest infection and I also took Oral Thrush, never had it before in my life. Antibiotic helped and it went away. It is now back again and I was given antibiotic again. I don't understand why and am wondering is this another part of our lung problem. I have Pulmonary Fibrosis, bronchiectasis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Have you been informed why? I use mouthwash every day and have done for years so that is not the answer for me. Maybe someone else has had the same problem and will let us know. Cheryl
Hi poppyval.i too am having the same problem with oral thrush, have had it on and off since I was hospitalised last march.doctor said it could from my inhalers or meds.i take dactarin daily, waiting for result. Hope yours goes.happy new year.bengunn.
Try fluconazole. This is a one off pill usually used for vaginal thrush but works ok for oral, throat and gut thrush. It kills all fungal infections in the body. Maybe take extra yoghurt after
. It is available on prescription or over the counter. Ask for it by name not as vaginaal thrush cure, or you will pay more than you need.
This is often overlooked as a problem but can be really awful - stopping you swallowing and causing loss of your voice. Get rid of it and you will feel much better.
Good luck.
Hi shabbash
I too suffer frequently with this. I'm usually given nystan or daktarin oral gel. I find the daktarin works quickly but there's never enough in one tube to clear it up. I've recently been on 10 weeks of Clarithromycin for a nose infection (I have IPF and they don't want to do a general anaesthetic) and have had oral thrush or lichen planus almost continuously. I went back to the GP last week and she has given me a two week course of fluconazole. Have just started it but as BelleBea says, it's supposed to do the trick. Best of luck.
After suffering from repeated bouts of Oral Thrush my GP suggested that I add a few drops of Nystan to my Denture Pot and.....................
I have not (touch wood and whistle) had any further problems since.
