Hiya Mommalou
I have grade 4 emphysema too. Only advice I have is to take each day as it comes. Roll with the punches and keep your sense of humour and laugh in it's face. No matter how bad you feel it is better than being dead. lol

Hi Mommalou. I'm grade 4 too. Just keep as active as you can. It's better than sitting around and letting it dictate to you.

You all make me feel so humble I have been feeling sorry for myself for having a horrid head cold. Admire your positive outlook . Thats what is so good about this site. Joyce

I get terribly depressed. My moods swing from positive to depth of depression. I just keep moving. Doing the things I can and try to do more each day. Try to stay upbeat. Good luck and stay on here it is a lifeline.
Hi I am the same, we all get depressed at some time and feel rotten especially if we have a flare up or something else is affecting us, we just have to try and be positive and happy about the things we can still do. Most of all come on here and talk to people we are here to support each other.
Hope you are feeling stronger this morning.

I'm grade 4 only in the last few months though it came as a real shock to me how little I could do now I'm grade 4. The thing that keeps me going is I'm not going to end up on oxygen so I'm doing all I can to delay it by going swimming and the people I do aqua fit with we all go out for a meal or some social occasion, I do hope you feel better soon
Hello mommalou
I can understand how you feel: the first thing is to sort out your depression, I suspect. Once that is under control, life becomes easier. I'm probably going to be taking anti-depressants for the rest of my life, but it's better than the alternative!! Make sure that you get plenty of exercise -- however hard it is, because it gets easier and will make you feel more "up-beat".
It's going to get colder this week, so stay warm, try to eat properly -- or at least, get decent food inside you, and DO something. What you should try to avoid, is thinking about the state of your lungs/health. All that will do is make you feel worse.
This is a good place to be because people here know how you feel and have coping strategies that may help you to climb out of the dark hole and back into the light. Keep smiling!!
Hi, I'm below 20% lung function now, classed as end stage, and get very down sometimes, inability to do things and boredom the main causes. I do take medication, not sure if it helps or not! Maybe you need a change of anti d's, best to discuss it with your gp. All the best. Libby x
I get down this weather doesn't seen to help that gets me down I really do try and keep myself active I won't let this beat me but sometimes it does scare me I know there are people a lot worse off but some days I feel so low but I do have an amazing family and some really good friends which does help and just to talk about it with people who understand because they have it as well and know's exactly how it feels really helps too if I could get everybody on here new lungs for Xmas I would xx
