New Laptop.....Just wondering if anyone here has a touch screen laptop?

This old one of mine is on its last legs...my computer man has tried to give me more disk space, but says I really need a new laptop with more memory. I have been looking at the touch screen ones but I have heard mixed reviews.

My daughter has an ipad which it all touchscreen. I really like it downside is we had to buy a software package for the word processing. She copes really well with the touchscreen and does all her homework on it now. I really like it too. Talking to the chap who looks after our business phones, he told me to steer away from ipad because the commercial world just don't use it and there are other touchscreen tablets which are just as good. I would advise you go to the one of the bigger stores - take a flask and sandwiches! and try out their touchscreens! Good Luck TAD xx

Hi

Windows 8 touch screen laptops are a transition between regular PC windows 7 and Tablets the future so they say.

Best bet is to try all three at PC world. Bearing in mild your needs.

Lots of people say just for , then expect to be able to make a block buster movie.

I have a new laptop windows 7 .... Windows 8 phone,,,,,,, I-pad.

I prefer windows 7 more control .

Not sure about touch screen for lap top cos lap tops quite heavy to lug about! Is great on mini iPad though. I lucky enough to have both. Lap top quite old but works and got iPad mini recently and enjoying it.

Thanks for your answers...my daughter said that Windows 8 works better with a touch screen, but a review said it could be quite tiring on the arm to use..."gorilla arm" was the term used.

I went to Currys at the weekend but it was so busy I will have to go back at a quieter time.

Mind you my old laptop seems to have had a new lease of life today.

I agree with that knitter. I have windows 8 but not a touchscreen. It is very sensitive however and if I hover with a mouse over anything it tends to open it. That makes me think it is better as a touchscreen. I saw very few of those when I bought mine about 6 weeks and those that were were more expensive. Not sure if it's worth the extra cost. Good luck with it.

Hi Knitter, I was given a Nexus 7 tablet last Christmas which is brilliant for travelling, stashing books on, taking to bed when I don't feel well etc. the only drawback with using it all the time is the key pad letters are quite small.

I was recently given an early Xmas pressie of a 2nd hand IPad. It's great and I can type quite fast on it instead of dithering about.

I like both, they sort of suit my lifestyle. You can shove em in your handbag and you can always find free wifi all over the place.

The greatest thing is NO WIRES! Just a neat little charger, like a mobile.

If you prefer to sit at a table or desk then probably better to go for a lap top - you can always shift to the sofa although you might get a sore neck or back but at least you have the choice. If I were buying a new one I'd be going for a Samsung.

Beware when you go to a store, they'll always try to push you towards what they want to shift and the ones they make the most profit on.

The reviews on Amazon are always a very good source of information. You pick up things you wouldn't have thought of by reading them and most of the purchasers are more knowledgable than us!

Good luck Xxx
