My resting oximeter reading often changes by one percent, up and down from minute to minute. I assume this is caused by small variations in my respiration rate, and possibly in muscular tension.
You might try consciously maintaining the same pattern of breathing - and the same degree of tension in your muscles - for, say, five minutes, and see if this stabilises your reading . . .
Hi
As you are already on oxygen I would contact your oxygen team.
You may need further assessment.
88/92 is acceptable at rest. Below this you may need LTOT long term oxygen therapy .
91/92 is recommended when excercising and moving around. Below this you may need ambulatory oxygen.
I drop below 80 on over exercise and laying flat and I cannot get my doctors to look at it any further
Hi
I was placed on 2lpm at my PR classes
Tuesday i attended hospital for a full Ambulatory assessment, walking from consulting room to gym about 20 metres, my level dropped to 83 without oxygen, not good.
During six minute walking test , sats checked after every minute I maintained 92/92 on 2 lpm oxygen.
If your sats are dropping to 80 I seek further advice, ring the helpline, just to be sure.
When I was on PR they put me on a treadmill and I was never on for more than 2 minutes Max when my stats dropped below 80 and on a normal walk around the gym my calf's used to cramp up.
