The mind is a strange thing

Here's another trick of Doctor Dementia to test your skills...Can you meet this challenge? I've seen this with the letters out of order, but this is the first time I've seen it with numbers. Good example of a Brain Study: If you can read this OUT LOUD you have a strong mind. And better than that: Alzheimer's is a long long, way down the road before it ever gets anywhere near you.

Only great minds can read this This is weird, but interesting!

If you can raed this, you have a sgtrane mnid, too.Can you raed this? Olny 55 people out of 100 can. I cdnuolt blveiee that I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd what I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it dseno't mtaetr in what oerdr the ltteres in a word are, the olny iproamtnt tihng is that the frsit and last ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can still raed it whotuit a pboerlm. This is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the word as a wlohe. Azanmig huh? Yaeh and I awlyas tghuhot slpeling was ipmorantt!

This message serves to prove how our minds can do amazing things. Impressive things. In the begging it was hard, but now on this line your mind is reading it automatically without even thinking about it, be proud only certain people can read this.please forwardif you can read this.

I've seen similar before. Still find them to be an interesting excercise. Hardest one though is to read a five minute morse transmission with out writing it down. I could never quite do that at a normal speed. (1 character per second).

Offcut profile image
Offcut in reply tojohnwr

I could never read morse in my head I had to write it down. I took my morse test at what was then the Portishead Radio station. I had to do 12 words a minute minimum TX & RX

I did mine at Anglesea Radio Station in 1982. GW4WBL.

s made me think there is some hope for me yet, even though I put the wrong bins out last week having looked up 2014 on the calendar and put them out yesterday to be emptied not today but tomorrow. The mind is such a strange thing. enjoyed reading it Joyce

I am an avid reader so often if there are uninteresting bits I skim over them and speed read so I find these things easy. Good practise though to keep your mind alert.

I tried speed reading a big book once but my passengers said I should keep my eyes on the road and slow down ;)

I wonder if the texters of today will have this sort of skill, now or in the years to come as the won't have a proper grasp of spelling for their minds to work it out. Mirror image reading is an other one to try.

At first I did not think I would be able to do it but I could as It got further down I got faster and faster as if I did not want to look to hard in case I could not read it. Interesting.

Hi Offcut.

I read it without any problems. Does this mean I shall never get Alzheimer's?!

If so, one less thing to worry about!

Stay well

Tamara

My goodness how refreshing. I am going thro that horrible period of dividing assets not a divorce but realisation that the split has to happen after 23 years and one of you have to move out. Love turns to hate. But at 63 and looking good keeping active going to Curves swimming most days and going to the spa...roll on Spring and where shall I be?

Mocarey profile image

Thank you. After my spiel yesterday I wake up with a black cloud so no doubt I shall have days like this off and on. You know when you want something to end. You have one that wants to fight and not be reasonable.the other person just wants a quiet life.

going into another room and forgetting is the brains way of clearing rubbish in the head. If you think back to the room that you got the thought it can come back?
