I wish but neither the garden or me to do the gardening are suitable. I do agree with you, though. I like roadside stalls, the market, the "WI" stall. Much nicer.

This is our first go at growing veg too. Lettuce, toms, spuds, courgettes, spring onions, sprouts and cabbage. I'll let you know how it goes. Also trying to grow herbs. We nave been growing our own strawberrues and raspberries for a couple of years now and they don't seem to need a lot of looking after. we only have a small garden as well.

Hi, I used to grow veg when the kids were little. Can't do it now but we used to love cooking what I had grown. My kds used to pay hide and seek among the runner beans. We now keep chickens so we still grow our own - kind of. :-) :-) Alison

All my veg is grown in containers, We have half a freezer full of runner beans, dwarf beans and purple beans this year and still loads more to come.

We have had a full sized allotment for about 7 years now and grow most of our vegetables and salads. You can't beat it!

I have a half size allotment, but not been able to do much this year so the weeds have overtaken. Got a very good crop of blackcurrants though.

Just a warning....made a raspberry crumble without wearing my glasses, but ate it wearing them only to find I had cooked a snail......yuk!

in reply toknitter

Are you growing raspberries too knitter? You just did the thrush out of a meal eating that snail, still snails I'm sure taste nicer than those pesky slugs, that would be enough to turn anyone's stomach, ewwwwww

;)

Cant beat the taste of fresh veg & salads. We always had great veggie garden, sadly where we are now,our soil is not very suitable, but grow pumpkins, marrow etc. in it.

Containers for the tomatoes, lemons, herbs & onions. xxx

Home grown veg - yep you can't beat them :)

Can't beat fresh veg from the garden or allotment , but afraid illness can reduce your ability to grow your own. I grow fresh fruit still but not veg like I used too.

hiya my son paved all of my garden coz of my health and not being able to mow anymore. last year imanaged to grow runner beans, corn on the cob tomatos, swiss chard, deformed carrots, lettuce and strawberries which multiply every year ,all in very large containers and a variety of pots for flowers i do love apot,my son counted i had over 100"mum you gotta stop with the pot thing too many" of course he is right. i do loveit so gives me lots of pleasure,i have alittle tool box thingy on wheels so i can sit and have everything to hand including meds etc for those scarey mary moments.

Love it Jane, that is a lot of watering of all those pots, have you got an irrigation system set up? I have never been successful with carrots in pots or otherwise, I think they get eaten by those slimy creatures the frogs love. Keep up the good work. It is so enjoyable I agree.

Best wishes BC
