Last night I could not breathe very well because of the weather and stayed awake. I kept the fan on and drank copious amounts of water to keep cool. As I couldn't sleep, I decided to go supermarket shopping, wrong! Whilst shopping my legs kept giving way. I returned home ,went back to bed and slept until 5.30pm.Badger did not leave my side and when I got up he ran out of the back door, talk about floods poor boy! I am still not breathing to my normal standard but am feeling a lot better.
I came to Nottingham 4 years ago and bought a nice bungalow. Today I heard on the news that the man we bought it off had been stabbed to death last year by his 40 year old schizophrenic who has today been sentenced to a secure unit in Her Majesty's Pleasure.
Yesterday I went to visit a dear friend of mine who is now suffering with stage 4 emphysema. We had a nice pleasant chat. She used to be the secretary of BENCAD my old Breathe Easy group and everybody loves her.
Over the last twelve months I have taken her to and visited in hospital many times.Taken her shopping and had her aroud to mine for a meal and visited her at home.I often took her to church coffee mornings and to BE Nottingham meetings. Her husband, her carer, phones everyday to let me know of her wellbeing.
Unfortunately today she did not recognise me.
I feel so helpless and sad

I'm so sorry about your friend richard, it must have been a shock for you. I remember the day I went to see my Nan who helped raise me, and she did not know me. Take time remembering all the happier memories. You sound a good friend to her. It is a horrible thing that happened to the man you bought your home from too. Chell is right, we are all here for you.
Hello Richard, it is very sad about your dear friend, and the man you bought your house off,I'm sorry your breathing is not as good as it could be,mine is troublesome lately as well, sometimes stress can make things worse, sending big cuddles to you, sweet dreams hope everything will feel better tomorrow xxxxx
Another hug, from me too! What a day you had,may tomorrow be more uplifting.
That would have been upsetting re; your friend, but maybe next time,it might be a better day for her,so don't give up.Im sure her husband/carer,would be grateful of the support as well.
Fancy reading about the person you bought your property from, would have given you a jolt I imagine!
Do hope you will feel better, after a good nights sleep,it is morning here, but hopefully you are tucked up with Badger, enjoying a few zzzz! Bless him.
Hoping you have a much better day today. Your friend is lucky to have your support. Know you will bounce back with all the support you have on here. x Joyce
Thinking of you today KOTC and hoping you are feeling better. So sorry and sad to hear about your dear friend. You are a great friend and can only offer your support and friendship which is a great gift indeed. Take care. xxxxxxxx
Thank you sassy59.My friend was admitted back in to hospital at 3 am. It is now 9pm and she has slept right through. Even the paramedics could not wake her
Hi Richard. I delayed replying to your post because I really didn't know what to say. It's terrible having a family member or close friend in trouble and there is damn all you can do about it. All I can say is keep your chin up and try to get yourself fit again so you can cope.
Hey King, you can't be ill, we need you to do the jokes........................
Know just how you feel about your friend, my Dad died of COPD and mum of Cancer, not nice to watch, my best friend has only weeks to live from lung cancer, taking her out on Wednesday with our other friends, as a goodbye, I suppose.
But we have to keep positive for our friends.
Glad your feeling better today, hopefully by Monday you will be back to normal.
