Cyclist knocked into river in mobility scooter hit and run

A cyclist has been knocked into a river in Ipswich by an elderly woman on a mobility scooter, police have said.

The man was cycling alongside the River Orwell near Ranelagh Road when he was hit by the red mobility scooter last Monday.

He was knocked into the water and cut his back.

The driver of the scooter, believed to be between 70 and 80 years old, failed to stop. Suffolk police are appealing for witnesses.

Wasn't anyone on here was it ? ;)

I'll bare that in mind when I go for my bike ride to upton. Thats an unexpected danger I havn't thought about.

I hope they catch this woman and get her side of the story!! Was it an accident or malicious?

If guilty of a crime then she should not be allowed to drive/ride a mobility scooter!

What do you think should be a suitable punishment??

Nobody saw me and the description isn't great. I reckon I will get away with it, hehe.

Friend of mine got run over by an OAP on a mobility scooter last week, and the driver f the scooter was drunk !

Can you be charged with being drunk in charge of a scooter? :)

Yes... under the 1872 Licensing Act. This law still creates an offence of being drunk in public and of being drunk in charge of a carriage :O

reminds me of the 'Hell's Grannies' comedy sketch by Monty Python life reflecting 'art' maybe.

Not me! I was in Lymington, having a good time with my lovely chest infection.
