I had a sudden urge to run today when I was out.

So I did ! About 100 yards and was hardly puffed. How odd that some days can be like that. :)

Well done you - I sometimes get that on the treadmill. I go up to 3mph and think yeah, I could go faster - I haven't tried it yet, but now you have... ;-)

100m is a fair distance too - i think I would struggle at half that distance at full pelt!

The last time I ran was about 3 years ago when I was running with my daughters for the last train at Victoria Station. I must admit I was a bit puffed out as I smoked at the time !

A year later I gave up smoking and 3 months later diagnosed with very severe emphysema. I couldn't walk 100 yards, let alone run.

I can normally walk maybe 100 yards on a good day before I have to rest. The medicines I'm on do seem to help a lot but today I was feeling really good. Hence the urge to run. :)

Very well done you, it's a great feeling when you do something like this and when you feel as good again try 150yds and so on this is what me and Tony dall05 do we have broke more records than the summer Olympics, Tony is known as the Chris Hoy of Malvern. mattcass

Chris Hoy has retired hasn't he, so he may have slowed up to my pace by now. I reckon I could give him a good race eh' MC, and you too, especially if Fran was chasing you with a big stick. Ha Ha.

Well done.

I go to the gym 3 times a week, walk on the other days.

I really believe the more exercise you do the better you can breath.

I have not had a chest infection for 2 years now, I'm sure its because of the exercise I do.

But make sure you don't over do it

Keep it up slade as it works for me too. Exercise I believe is better than any pill they will give you.

Well done Puff. I had my copd check a few days ago and asked her how come some days I have energy and others I have very little. She said it is the copd. But I still can't understand how it can vary so much!

Hi Puff, Half your luck, I was forced to give up any sort of running, apart crossing the road (and avoiding oncoming traffic - about 25-30 metres), long ago. The legs are OK but the tubes Not! Stay well Martin

Blimey, I can't run 5 yards!

!I WISH! Another chest infection, and my walking is getting more difficult. Just hoping PR will help. Any thoughts

well done puff, i get like that some days and when i feel like that i really go for it and my other half loves it has i will do things like clean the oven (which i hate doing) garden clean windows and if on treadmill can do that bit extra.

I'm not sure yet Lynne as Ive just woken up. :) I'll let you know !

For someone who doesn''t keep fit I was surprised although since going to PR about a 6 months ago I do push myself more than I did when I smoked. My job requires a bit of walking and once I start I seem to find it easier to breath as my shift goes on. Maybe it's the fresh air ! :D

I sometimes do 10 lengths of my small lawn and stop at that, any more and I'm struggleing to recover for quite sometime. I have found my limit and I try and stick to it. Its just a good feeling to find that you can still run even its for a very short distance. At least I know I could get myself out of trouble when crossing the road etc.

Tony.

No point in sitting around waiting for god is there. Iv'e already rattled his gates but was refused entry luckily so I'm doing everything to keep another visit at bay.
