Medical opinions and information of Seretide 125
You're not in the correct place really if you're looking for purely "medical opinions" assuming you mean views held by the medical profession, although some people working for BLF are indeed nurses.
If you want info, how about reading the leaflet that came with your inhaler? If you haven't actually got Seretide take a look here:
netdoctor.co.uk/allergy-and...
nhs.uk/medicine-guides/page...
If it's our experience of using Seretide you'd like, then I was very happy with it. I took it for over 12 years and it controlled my asthma well. The only side effect I noticed was having to clear my throat from mucous, but that could be due to not having rinsed my mouth out properly after taking it.

I have been taking its big brother, Seretide 500, for three years with no reactions or side effects. More than that I cannot say.
Bobby
Yes, it was the big brother I was on most of that time too, then cut back down to a lower dose.
I expect the OP meant 125/25? That's the evohaler, the powder ones are different I think.

hi was reading up on blogs ive been on seritide 500 since diagonosed at xmas but only got treatment started on feb, nice no rush there then, ive been ok on ot but just read hear its been took of in usa is that true i have copd
I have Seritide 250 Acuhaler - the powder one - morning n night. Always rinse n gargle with fresh water thoroughly after use. For me, an improvement on the aerosol one and Symbicort I used to take. We are all different though.
Read the leaflet for more info. P
I was on Seritide and walked around dying for a year before I realised it was the Seritide
causing my problems. As soon as I came off it, my symptoms disappeared. I am on Symbicort now and have no problems with it.
I believe it was taken off the market in the US, but don't know how true this is. Quite a lot people have died in the US from Seritide.
Good luck with whatever medication you eventually take.
Tamara
Many thanks Tamara for that informative information which encourages me to keep watching how I cope with any steroid for asthma.
Jo
Yes, I read that too - it's the long acting beta agonist in it that was the cause, and it was mostly ( or maybe only, not sure) African Americans who were affected by it.
I don't believe it's actually been taken off the US market though. It's called Advair over there.
Our genetics will be a massive influence in this, so how effective a med will be and also whether it is dangerous for us.
Long acting beta agonists are bad anyway, but my doc told me yesterday she thinks short acting ones re even worse: Ventolin. She advised me to use that only when absolutely necessary and that it's the corticosteroid which is important.
