Hello matcass :)

I'm not well up on benefits and think you would be far better off giving the BLF Helpline a call. Their number is 03000 030 555 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm. I'm sure there will be someone there who can advise you :)

Best of luck and keep on keeping on ....

Hi mattcass

From what you are saying you could be eligible for Contribution based employment and support allowance (ESA) - generally there is a 12 weeks assessment period (approx) and at the end of this the DWP will make a decision - either work related activity group (WRAG) - they accept you are unwell but say you can do some work, support group - they accept you are too unwell to work. Alternatively they may suggest Job seekers allowance - there is also the possibility of DLA.

Please give us a call though on 03000 030 555 and we can go through this with you in more detail.

Cheers

Jo
