Constant crackling

Hi, I'm just wondering how many other asthmatics have the same annoying symptoms as me.I have almost constant fine crackling in my airways.

I have recorded it and played it to my consultant who thinks that it is secretions. He doesn't seem unduly concerned.

These crackles used to be just on inspiration, but have now started on expiration aswell.

It's always worse when my asthma is in a flare.

My heart is all fine, that was completely checked when I was in Critical Care last year with my asthma, so I know it's not that.

Sorry for the long post

Welcome to the forum Livinglife24. Very positive name! 🙂So the Dr's have ruled out heart issues, so I assume you also had chest x-ray and maybe other respiratory tests (bloods, phlegm, lung function)? It's good to ask your doctor what they've ruled out and why, as it helps you understand what's happening and how they're going to help you control these symptoms.

It might be a good idea to discuss your case with the Asthma UK nurses on the helpline. They're very helpful and knowledgeable. Contact details: asthmaandlung.org.uk/helpli...

I get this mainly as soon as I lie down in bed and I can't go to sleep . If I sit up and cough it up, I lie back down and it's nice and clear, for a few seconds, and then off we go again. It usually happens for 3 or 4 nights until the infection is clearing up. It seems to be more in my throat and I find that huffing will usually clear it.
