Trying to find an allergy-free used car

Not sure if this is allowed- apologies to admins if not, but we are getting desperate.

We really need to replace our car- it’s 20+ years old and we can’t find the spares for repairs needed any more.

Can’t afford to lease/buy a new car.

We need a used car that has been owned by one pet-free person(s)/ family from new. It’s not enough to deep clean any used car- the allergens are minuscule and nigh on impossible to eliminate.

My asthma is so sensitive that we can’t risk anything else.

Does anyone know of anyone selling such a vehicle please?

Thanks in advance.

one possible idea, I don’t know if it would help though. Would putting an air purifier in a car you did purchase for several days before use, might be sufficient to clear allergens?

We had a new wood burner last winter, which caused me huge problems. I purchased 2 air purifiers ‘Blueair’, I chose. I know I’ve used them in our house not a car but they’ve have helped me enormously & they aren’t too expensive (available on Amazon). In fact I have been able to reduce my steroid inhaler medication a little to o & my sleep has improved.

You could try asking the dealerships in your area to hold back a part exchange car if the previous owner had asthma, might be a bit tricky with data protection though. But I do understand your plight. Despite my pleading against purchasing what is essentially a mobile ashtray my husband went and bought a Vauxhall from a smoker, because it was a bargain. He is repenting at his leisure as it reeked even after a full valet service and multiple cleaning and airing sessions at home. Months down the line it is smelling a lot better because our overseas son rang and suggested his father fill the ashtray with bowls of sliced onions. I’m not sure if he said this to wind his father up but after a month commuting to work and smelling like an onion Bhaji, (refreshing the onions every three days) that car smells alright and I am not reaching for inhalers and arriving in such poor health if I have to travel in it. If only sliced onions could sort the engine out!

During covid, my garage had a fancy aircleaning unit running in the car for a while before I could pick it up. I think you can find out about no of owners and dont think a smoker can cover their tracks. You might find out discretely about pets, I suppose a dog would be worst offender but cat allergens would travel on clothes of person into car.

Hi, you can get cans which fill the inside of a car with an anti bacterial fog and if it's done with the car running and A/C running it will clean that as well.
