Pneumonia Right Lung

What a struggle! I haven't been this sick in an age!

I was sent to our local SDEC unit who were superb. Unbeatable.

I had two full blood tests and the usual chest x ray - The blood tests were not too good and I had a CRP of 400. Immediately placed on a drip and had so many things injected in me!

My right side of my chest is still a bit painful and I get SOB pretty quick.

The senior medical staff in my local hospital encouraged me to go home and take it easy for 3 weeks when I steadied up and so did that.

After a couple of days on a really busy older persons ward with five patients I was so happy to come home with all the pills I needed.

I am feeling knackered most of the time and any tips welcome.

Happy day to you

D

Plenty of TLC, if you live alone look after yourself very well with plenty of fluids and good food. I've had pneumonia 5 times and each time it took 3 months or more to fully recover back to my normal. Above all dont overdo it, pace yourself as soon as you begin to feel a little better. I recall buying and taking everything I could to boost my own immune system at the time (running them by the GP). It took 5 bouts of pneumonia before my respiritory nurse gave me the pneumonia vaccination, she wax cross that none of the GPs or hospital had offered it. I've not had it since (like the flu jab the vaccination doesn't cover every single type of pneumonia just the most likely ones).

Take care and good luck.

Thank you! I'm not too sure if I've had the pneumonia vaccination! I usually take everything offered. I will do the TLC thing as I can't stand this!

Great advice above, TLC, meds and time, I hope you make a good recovery, definitely speak to someone (consultant/specialist) to be booked for the Pneumonia jab, your gp's can give it, I had mine last September, and although I've struggled with the cold air impact on my eosinophilic chest, I haven't had any colds or chest infections, whereas I had colds/flu and multiple infections the previous winter x take care, rest lots x N

I recently had a print out of all my vaccinations from the practice nurse. Very useful, I'd forgotten I'd had the Hep A & booster. All the covid vaccinations & booster dates are on it too. Your practice should be able to tell you if you've had the pneumonia vaccination. Good luck ilovesun. P

They used to give it out as part of the Flu Jab years and years ago, however advice changed and it's not done like that now (I'm sure it's to save the NHS a few quid)

But it does provide protection from something like 20+ types of bacteria that cause pneumonia ..... ive had it twice and my consultant was cross because no one had checked my immunity of which I had immunity to something like 3 of the 24 types of pneumonia causing bacteria, until I had the second pneumonia vaccine and it went up to 20+

I had a pneumonia vaccination about 6 years ago, but I still went down with pneumonia in November completely out of the blue.

I’d been away in London with friends having fun, but lots of early nights and no stress lead up. Got home, pottering around then terrible pain in left chest late afternoon.

The usual less than joyful many hours in A&E and a CT chest found pneumonia, admitted straight away for 5 days.

So even vaxed, not rundown or stressed, cheerful environment protected me. Most odd, I’m (sort of!) ready for anything now! 🤷‍♀️

I had pneumonia in 2022 and my advice would be eat as well as you can, drink plenty and rest, rest, rest. It does take time to feel yourself again and I hope that you recover soon.

I hope you feel well soon...I couldn't understand your post fully because I hadn't a clue what SDEC UNIT WAS OR Crp of 400, or sob is/was......Just saying
