Huffing and puffing

I’ve been on Fostair 100/6 and Incruse Elipta for two weeks to treat asthma and amazingly my cough, wheeze and mucus have gone. My Peak Expiratory Flow is now 580 (120% of predicted having been at 450, I have no more shortage of breath when walking at a brisk pace and my oxygenation is 97

BUT when I huff there seems to be little air coming out and a strange breathy sound that quickly runs out.

It’s a couple of weeks before fresh lung tests. Does anyone have an idea about what’s happening to make my exhaling so strong but my huffing so weak?

I have been very grateful for this Forum and the advice I have received.

Good morning. I am so pleased you have found something to solve your coughing issue which obviously makes you more breathless. Can I ask what you were on before Fostair. And do you have copd as well. I have had a cough since February and getting no help at all. I am on Trelegy for copd and Asthma. Just every morning. Brian

Hello Brian! I’m being treated for asthma. COPD hasn’t been discussed so far. The respiratory symptoms started eight months ago and I’ve only just been put on these inhalers so I wasn’t on anything else before. As I say, they’ve really cleared up the cough, mucus, wheeze so I can really recommend them.

Thanks for your reply. I have a respiratory appointment next Monday and will discuss this with my nurse. I have had problems with coughing in a morning for months now and I am just being fobbed off as if there is nothing else to help me. Hope you keep doing well on your Inhalers take care. Brian

Not sure, but I have noticed that when I have prednisone my peak flow goes up more quickly than my fev1. This might fit with what is happening with you. The peak flow being the exhale and the huff being the fev1?

That’s fascinating, Troilus. Do preventer inhalers (Fostair and Incruse Ellipta) improve FEV1 over time?

New inhalers take time to settle in, i would just allow the inhalers more time to fully work.

Hi, I am on Fostair 200/6 now, was the 100/6, but I was still coughing badly especially through the night, so my asthma nurse gave me Montelikust too and that seems to have done the trick, still get occasional cough but no where near as bad x
