I’m having a moan

I had pneumonia and pleurisy over Christmas and well into January, I can get right I’m so exhausted and lots of people answered my previous moan for which I’m really grateful 💕 but I feel so ill , I keep having almost a sinking feeling several times a day like I need to lie down before I fall down, I’m breathless doing the blooming washing up , every mount in my body aches soo much and would happily go to bed at seven

Whaaaaaaa rant over , thanks for listening

how frustrating- have you thought of approaching your recovery as if you are a footballer and you’ve had a kneee injury or similar. A structured training programme with very small incremental steps each day which are measured to show improvement?

morning , I have been trying to be positive and do a bit more each day and it’s a very good idea thank you

more frustrating than anything, you don’t want to look like a moaning mini so you slap on a smile and drag through things that really should be fun but hey ho it’s a beautiful day here in Bristol so best foot forward as they say 😊

Do you remember when Michel Johnson had a stroke and talked about his journey to recovery - every day was measured in terms of steps and seconds improvement in achievement rather than great leaps - he said out came out of his days of being an international sprinter and working towards incremental change... worth looking it up

I shall have a look for that 👍

Has your GP given any indication of what could be causing your current situation?Could you have had covid and now long covid?

I hope you are on the mend soon. Do short tasks and rest in between.

Maybe some blood tests could identify anything that your body is lacking which is making you feel so unwell.

morning 😊 I’ve been told it’s just recovery from the pneumonia etc and will improve but I’m not convinced, if it’s not getting better in a while I’ll make another appointment, have a good day

Hi there, commiserations, I've had pneumonia & pleurisy twice together & pneumonia several times. It's extremely debilitating and I've found it takes at least three months to get 'right - and that's with taking lots of vitamins and supplements to rebuild my shattered immune system. In my opinion & looking back I can see that I overdid it by going back to work as though it was flu. As a consequence I was diagnosed with CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) & often woncer if I'd taken better care & paced myself I wouldn't have CFS. Can only advise doing little & often to rebuild stamina, good health diet, good sleep and above all dont overdo it, really pace yourself. Oh and get the pneumonia vaccination! All the best, P

Agree totally with wvwrytging you have pointed out. Likewise, I have had Pnemonic/pPleurisy attacks x 5 times now over the years. And I also agree on having the Pneumonia jab once every 10 years .. it definately helped me.

Also, if you are really feeling that tired/drained .. then it "IS .. your body" saying "Hey you! stop, take a break, have a doze/40 winks or go to bed early!" Do it. Go with the flow of what your body is trying to tell/ing you .. so listen to it .. you need it.

An hour's snooze or doze onthe sofa and a chill out relax period .. will not break the bank .. but "IT will do your body and mind .. a lot of good!" It's called "RECOVERY" .. for a reason By ignoring these signs you are just prolonging/slowing down/hampering your recovery rate. Making yourself feel even worse, bad and rotton about everything.

Try to go with the flow, yry to relax (about everything) and stop worrying. Most important stop being and do not be "frustrated with yourself" .. what you are going through is totally normal for what has happened to you.

Easy said .. not so easily done .. yep we got that! We appreciate this but it is true and "you can do it" .. its not forever. After all we have also been there multiple times and as hard as it is you really must try to stop blaming yourself and being frustrated with yourself!

It takes months .. at least 3 months and in my case one bad bout took me nigh on a year to get through it all.

It got easier as time went by (6mths/9mths) .. but would occasionally "catch me short/out" .. if I had been over doing things .. even a 1yr /15 mths later.

So try hard and put your efforts into being kind to yourself and go with the flow your body knows best and will guide you! Try to keep the frustrated feelings at bay!

"Good luck .. and you will beat it .. honest!"

Hi Hazel1010

In my 40’s I had Pleurisy during early Summer, he told me I would fell tired for a quite some time.

To this day I remember on a GP visit with one of my children asking the doctor “why am I So Tired all the time”, - ( forgetting his earlier warning) he reminded me of his previous advice, that it would take time to recover.

Don’t b too hard on yourself, Allow your body to heal itself. One day u will look back and realise how well u feel compared to now.

Best wishes

Bernardine 🌹🌹🌹🤗🤗

Hey Hazel, lots of lovely comments already but just to add my support and sympathy into the mix. I hope things improve for you soon. If it helps you to know, I'm still not right since Christmas and you had a more severe illness! It's very disheartening when you can't find the energy to do even the simple things in life. It WILL get better xxx

Thanks... Same to you too. It's been a tough, long Winter. Thankfully I have just finished work for Easter and now have three weeks off 🥳. Hoping for some rest and sunshine!

hi hazelnut took me from Christmas to Easter to feel anywhere near normal after having pneumonia with pleurisy and even then my doctor wanted me to stay off work longer. I did a little bit more each week but you need to rest. Do you have any underlying conditions- I’m sorry I can’t remember 🤗🤗
