Besides the peak flow, how have your asthma symptoms been on the higher dose of Clenil? If you find (after giving it time to work) that you're needing your reliever much less, not noticing symptoms, not waking at night if you were etc, then that suggests the higher dose is needed. If you have minimal or no symptoms on the higher dose for a while (maybe 6 months) you could ask your GP about dropping back down.
I was speaking to our asthma nurse not so long ago after starting montelukast and we decided to stay with the higher dose for six months then drop to a mix of 200/100 for a while and see how it goes before considering going down to the low dose again.
