Hi has anyone taken beta blockers for anxiety when you have controlled asthma.

This question has come up before. Technically, beta-blockers can exacerbate asthma, so medical professionals are careful about co-prescribing, but the BNF advice doesn’t actually prohibit the combination, instead suggesting that it is closely monitored if there is no alternative. In fact, I was taking beta-blockers for anxiety long before I was diagnosed with asthma, but my asthma must be well-controlled because I didn’t even know I had it! Consequently, no-one has ever queried my continued use of propranolol.

Thanks for your reply. Doctor said should be ok to use, however when feeling anxious I will probably start thinking it’s effecting my asthma even if it’s not 🤦‍♀️
