Foot cramps

Hi just a quick one see if anyone has any ideas,I'm having regular flare ups of my asthma,which I'm under a resp team to change meds etc but my question is whenever I go to the hospital I have nebs,preds and antibiotics,but I end up getting terrible foot cramps especially toes or spams toes stick together at the weirdest angles haha I came out of hosp at 4pm and still suffering terrible with them,anyone else experience this and anything that can help,they did mention some time ago as my blood levels were off something about lactate levels and not drink much water can cause it thanks

It could be due to the medication you've had, maybe needing to drink plenty or simply because of breathing too fast. I would have thought one of the latter two - so drink plenty and rest and try and keep your breathing relaxed (now you're not in an acute phase) and hopefully that should help.

Thank you 😊 I've been drinking more as now it's easier to eat and drink coz can breath lol this bloomin excabation coz of second covid Jab

It's a good idea to have Dioralyte after intense asthma treatment. It replaces the electrolytes and helps with cramping etc. I always keep a box in the medicine cabinet. If you're continuing to suffer from cramping then it could be a low potassium issue caused by asthma inhalers - the patient leaflet will indicate if potassium levels can be affected. Eating a potassium rich diet should help.

Thank you for that idea,I just get odd cramps bit after a&e they are dreadful

I get this on the higher doses of fostair. I find a banana a day keeps the crampin' away! Also a great excuse to have a bag of chips...... potatoes have potassium.....

Yea im on fostair nexthaler 200 and get occasional cramps but after a a&e trip they are worse than ever or they are rather toe cramps spasm in ways toes don't 🙄😁

Oh dear! I once broke my big toe and had a trained nerve then got the foot cramps on top of it. Words can’t describe how painful that was!

I used to get terrible foot cramps and I had low potassium... and inhalers with formoterol / salbutamol are potassium leaches ..... I found eating a banana as often as I fancy one helped the issue and now my potassium is in the "normal range" ... so maybe eating potassium rich foods may help or get your potassium levels checked by your GP
