Hi! I’m just wondering if there was any reason for me have such swings in my peak flow between from morning to the night. So for eg in the morning it’s around 340 then at night it’s around 420 . I am more symptomatic in the morning & know it is normal for it to be lower in am to pm, but should it be so different?

Asthma is worse at night. When you’re asleep issues can build and you don’t notice cause you’re asleep so you don’t treat them. Then when you wake up you find your PF is lower. Most asthmatics are worse first thing pre drugs, or they have a ‘witching hour’ during the night where they wake up struggling. In the evenings your lungs tend to be better behaved with the drugs in your system as 1 you keep on top of it more and 2 you have less natural stress on your asthma caused by your circadian rhythm

Thank you Emma! It’s really helpful & it’s something I’ve read several times. I’m definitely having the wake up early need my inhaler then head hits the pillow again! I’ll mention it to the consultant next week.
