Does anyone know if there is still a "clinically vulnerable " category? The government website only talks about "clinically extremely vulnerable" now? My union at work is talking about "clinically vulnerability."......I think the government has dropped this now.......?
I mean, it doesn't matter because I still have to go to work with small children, no distancing, no masks.....and questionable hand hygiene ..........
There is still one as, come vaccine groups, that's group 6 - anyone with an underlying condition (basically that would be make them eligible for a flu jab). The union may well mean CEV rather than "just" vulnerable - often varied terms are used which confuses things. Or maybe they do mean anyone with a vulnerability. But it's still a thing. I think it's become less of a thing (in asthma anyway) because most asthmatics ( who are not in the CEV group ) are not thought to be any more at risk of complications than anyone without asthma.

It may be they're wanting to know about the "vulnerable but but CEV" anyway as I'm sure there are a lot of people in this group who could well be concerned as it's all so unpredictable

Yes ... there is still this category and I’d your in tier 4 you would of received a text , letter or email to shield again ... I received an email on 20th December and have been advised not to attend work until at least 18th January.. I’ve a felling it will be extended though
Wow! But then given I didn’t get a shielding letter until May last year I’m not expecting one quickly this time!
I received a text about shielding immediately after Boris had announced this area was going into Tier 4 back in December, followed later in the day by an email. It was automatically produced for all CEV patients. However, if you're considered CV then you are still entitled to reasonable adjustments at work that are designed to protect you from the risks of covid. This is probably what your union is referring to. Have a chat with your rep about your legal protections in the workplace as someone who is clinically vulnerable.
I received the initial shielding advice in March , and subsequently shielded until August , went back to work , then shielded again for a month in November and am now shielding again ... Ive heard lots of people who were identified as CEV in the first lockdown have been downgraded to just vulnerable. A lot depends on the meds and not so much the condition when it comes to asthma... I’m on continuously prednisone at high dosages which obvious suppress the immune system . If you think you are still CEV I’d contact your GP

The First Minister in Scotland has announced today that those in the shielding group should not be going to work from today. They will be sent a letter that will work as a sick line for their employers.

Hi Jollygood, my union contacted me yesterday, about adjustments if I felt unsafe etc, at the same time as saying members should go to work if their school is open?🤷♀️Anyway, as everything has changed now, my school has called all staff in today, and no children, I guess to give us a chance to sort out our vulnerable children and those of critical workers. So, bubbles will necessarily be much smaller and adults will not be expected to mix......I reckon I'll be okay. Anyway I hope so🤞🤞
