G p and hospital appointments

I have absolutely no faith in my surgery.why is is you can’t see your g.p I have copd no one checking on me.not that I need it but no hesitation asking if I want flu jab.covid seems to have eliminated any consultations with specialist I have an appointment cancelled after waiting 5mths.why.iam not urgent but there are many that are.totally disappointed and angry in the nhs.

It does feel a bit like that doesn’t it..that everything other than Covid has been forgotten about.

I think it’s a very complex process though.. it’s the knock on affect of it.

I too keep getting referred back to GP from specialist despite my GP referring me back. 😡

Personally I think it’s outrageous.there are many people with serious issues can’t see consultants .why.i don’t trust them.

Unfortunately it’s one of those things. I last saw my local consultant in January. I was meant to have a 3 month follow up, but because of COVID it didn’t happen. I’ve had 3 admissions and a trip to a&e since then (I did not see my con on any of these trips 😅). Each time they put me down for a 2 month follow up but it didn’t happen. I have only seen my GP f2f twice over COVID. Once to go over results of a 24hr BP check (as i was already there to hand in monitor and she wanted to go over recent asthma issues), and once at the request of my hosp AN who was worried I had either an infection or needed admission again (no infection but did end up admitted a few days later 😅).

However, I can completely understand why my local con has been unable to see me. She’s been on the COVID frontline for most of it. The ANs at my hosp have really stepped up. When I’ve gone through bad patches they made sure to check in with me and I know if I need them I just have to call.

I think the NHS is now having to play catch up, esp in respiratory. They are cancelling ‘routine’ appts so urgent patients can be seen. If you feel like you need the appt call your team and let them know, and they’ll put you on the ‘needs appt’ list.

If you feel like you need a COPD review at your GP surgery or need some help contact them. Not all surgeries are good, but hopefully you’ll be able to be reviewed to check how things are going!

They’re having to play catch up in a lot of departments. I’m due a follow up appointment after a procedure last week (not respiratory, though my asthma could be linked to it indirectly). The consultant I’ll be speaking to via phone isn’t even my consultant - he’s a consultant who’s come out of retirement (he retired about 10 years ago apparently) to help them clear the backlog of outpatient appointments. He’s never met me before and his area of interest is not what my problem is (which is complex because there are two medical conditions that could be contributing to it).

I am the same I had a respretory tract infection with swollen lymph nodes and not once was I seen by a doctor and I haven’t been right since and just been left

You can't get to see a doctor in our surgery. My son was misdiagnosed many times over the phone since June and it has turned out to be a malignant brain tumour. We have been totally let down by our GPs. Yet I have had

an unasked for asthma check on the phone and an appointment for a flu jab. We have to have this in the car park though! I think they must get extra pay for these procedures!

And you are absolutely right... we all know that GPs are stretched but it’s funny how they are able to manage the appointments that they get paid for...🤔🤔🤔🤔

I'm in same boat just rang my surgery this morning at 8am was 27th in the queue told them I need a face to face appointment and that's come from my consultants secretary.

Still have wait for a call back.

Lost all faith in GPs and asthma nurses last year after a year of chest infections on and off just go told csnt do anything youv have wait for your hospital in the end I ended up in hospital.

As for hospital appointments to see the Respiratory consultant its nearly 9mnths since I last saw him should've seen in july never received appointment. Was told i should get onein the post 4 was ago.

When I rang up to chase it up got that the consultant is changing his days and have to reschedule the clinics, still waiting probably could be in January which will be a year or could Christmas next year i don't know and they can't tell me and I need my inhaler changing its not working. I've tried that many combi inhalers that I beginning to think that they don't suit me and want to go back on the ones I used to be on which was controlling my asthma.
