I am reasonably fit during day time. I take Braltus, 10 micro grams and symbicort 200. I exercise daily for around 45 minutes . My problem starts when trying to sleep on my back my breathing becomes a bit harder, but I am ok sleeping on my side ! I used to wake up with a headache for nearly 3 months but sleeping on my side has helped.I wonder if there are other people with a similar problem.

I have bronchiectasis and find that when I wake in the morning I have very congested lungs. Just being vertical helps improve it. I can't sleep on my back but when I did (after shoulder surgery) I was very propped up which helps with the lung issues. I know back sleeping is meant to be better for a lot of health issues. Have you tried an extra pillow?
The one sleeping position that appears to put the most pressure on the lungs is sleeping on one's back. I know when my mum had pleurisy, the doctor recommended sleeping on her side and it relieved her pain and helped her breathing.
I have to sleep on my side or propped up if I sleep on my back. A friend of mine sleeps on their front! Totally uncomfortable but they don't snore 😅
Sleep apnea can exacerbate asthma and COPD so always best to get this checked out by a doctor.
