Hi all hope your keeping well, I'm having trouble with stopping smoking and I feel like my asthma is constant but my peak flow and oxygen are fine. Is it possible that thinking about the asthma to much is making it worse? And does anyone here with asthma smoke?? How does it make your throat feel if so

Thanks

Hi I smoke but I have actually been told not to give up until stress free as it is helping provent major attacks and other health flare ups and yes I have a cough but I tried to give up a few years ago got right down to 30 a week then I had a epileptic fit and I am back to before I even started trying and that was at a stressful time and I felt I didn't want to smoke well my health didn't want to give up even to this day I'm still upset over that but who was right the health problems or me . I have not tried since to give up I only go smoke free cold turkey when admitted to hospital this can be for as long as a month but once I'm okay to smoke I do.

No, sorry, I don't smoke. I've been asked a few times in the past if any of my friends smoke and when I gave the answer "yes", I was told to find new friends.

My friends have now stopped for various reasons.

Hi,

I stopped very recently. I managed it with Champix (prescribed by my gp). I also read Alan Carrs book. Im also going to Minds stop smoking service.

I’ve found that , with champix, the physical addiction is easy to beat. Now I understand the mental addiction I know that’s the difficult bit. Alan Carr’s book has really helped me with this.

I suffer with chronic anxiety. I do mindfulness anyhow so have used mindful breathing a lot. I’ve managed to get through.

My asthma has improved massively, although having come to the attention of my gp, they changed me to forstair so I think this helped.

I tried all sorts of things before this attempt and this is the best I’ve done. Champix and Alan Carr’s book together, with support from a stop smoking service (I get 1:1 meetings once a fortnight, was weekly at the start).

I really hope you find a way that works for you
