Hello, I am new to this site and not sure if it has been asked before. If it has I appogise. Does any one know of there is a type of face mask that will work for Covid-19 but doesn't affect my asthma by making my breathing difficult.

Thank you.

As far as I know the best (only?) mask protection against viruses is the N95 but of course it has a respirator & obviously it has to be very close fitting, so it would inevitably inhibit breathing. Anyway it’s almost impossible to buy now, & is expensive. A simple cloth mask made up of 4 layers would, imo, provide some protection

If you make your own put a layer of Terry towelling in it, it helps to catch the devil's. When you've worn it wash and dry. A wet mask is no good . Good luck

A mask will give you very limited, to the point of minuscule, protection against Covid - 19, unless it's a proper medical or industrial mask. Wearing a mask protects others from anything you may have by slowing down the transmission. Instead of traveling 6 feet the mask will hinder it and your breath may travel just 3 feet. (if that makes sense?)

Thank you for your replies, I know that it won't protect myself from Covid-19, but with the new recommendation from Scottish government to wear face mask when shopping or on public transport. Wearing a scarf or mask makes it harder to breathe.

Thank you for your help.

I read this on my FB friends page who is making material masks. It was a good read. Here is the link as it was a study. We have material masks. I can't go out yet but it's there ready when I can. Husband wears his purely to protect himself and then me. I hope.
