Chest pain

I’m 30 and recently had a asthma attack and this has left me with a dull ache in my sternum. I struggled to get any doctor or an apppointment with nhs 111 for my asthma and they left me all night and I couldn’t breathe (i was having an asthma attack). I’m worried this delay has done something to my chest? The pain is about a 5 out of 10. Not sure what to do

I don’t think you have done any damage to yourself. I always felt after an attack that my lungs were kind of bruised - I couldn’t think of another way of describing it - because of all the extra work I’d had just trying to breathe. You should see your GP as soon as possible. Insist on an emergency appointment if you are in pain, although you may find things improve as you relax a bit. I do hope so.

Hi Cath05, I don't think you've done any damage either. It takes a few days but usually the pain goes away. It will sound weird and I don't know how else to express it, but try to forget it and do something that will help you relax. The more you worry, the more tight your chest will be.
