Not exactly an urgent post, but you know how space chambers get furred up on the inside? Does anyone have a way to get them really clean? You're supposed to do it regularly apparently.

Space chambers
Separate parts. Soak in warm soapy water of 15 mins (can ‘stir’ with chamber to help get the water to pass through the chamber). Rinse off bubbles if you need too. Shake off excess water and leaver to air dry vertically. Reassemble.
Aerochamber tubes can also go in the dishwasher no higher than 70, but check if you’ve got a different brand. Do not use a cloth (flannel or tea towel) inside the chamber as that can make it static and cause the drugs to ‘catch’ on the chamber.
Recommended washing is every 1-4 weeks (depending on useage and the website you visit). Eventually it won’t clean properly so will need replacing (every 6-12 months usually).
Hope that helps x
Thanks Emma! I don't have a dishwasher, and have tried soaking then cleaning with a bottle brush cleaner but it doesn't seem to get it really clean. Maybe I just need new ones.
You’re welcome. It’s probably a case for replacement then! I find it really odd that there’s never advice about when to replace medical items, when almost everything else in life has a use by date 😅
Spacers when they look gunky and don’t clean well. PF meters when they start to stick. Usually between 6-12 months tho PF can last longer 😅.
Oops I've had mine for ages and use it multiple times a day....very much need replacement!
Wonder if the GSK inhaler recycling scheme takes old spacers? Seems a pity to just chuck. (Should post about that scheme actually- just found out about it and appreciate what they're doing - basically you can recycle any inhaler at selected collection points. Atm pharmacies generally just destroy any that are handed in.)
Ok it doesn't take spacers. Will need to find out what to do with those. I have a collection. Just got myself a new one (Respironic this time due to good reviews and not wanting to organise prescription/take whatever NHS offers).I absolutely depend on it given crapness of lungs, and my cons doesn't like home nebs so I should really optimise my space more!

Hi Bowbelle my spacer is the same, I asked the pharmacist about it he said it's the powder in the Inhalers that make them go cloudy.
