This is an American guide but the initial explanation of what asthma is and how it affects the body is one of the best I have read. It is a bit wordy, but worth persevering with if, like me, you like more information on the biology/physiology of a condition

Brilliant!
Why haven't I seen this before? As you say rather wordy but very worth the time to read.
page 2 is great!:-
"The good news is that Asthma is a very manageable medical problem!"

Yes - it’s got a few very nice descriptions in it!
I’m a big fan of the BTS asthma guidelines. They help you see your condition from the docs perspective and it can either be reassuring if you’re a worrier cause you can work out how ‘bad’ you actually are (acute or management wise), or butt-kicking if you’re an avoider, cause it’ll tell you how ‘bad’ you actually are! 😜😂
BTS is how I know that I’ve had multiple ‘life-threatening’ attacks but never a near-fatal 1, plus made me aware that I often self manage moderate-severe ones at home with no help 😬😅😊 (naughty Emma!)
It’s due for an update soon tho so probs starting to get a bit out of date 😒
For those interested;

Hi Emma
Very useful document but still highlight “ wheezing”
I never wheeze even when very poorly and I find it very frustrating as not taken seriously as “ not wheezing”
