I’m on prednisone 30mg for seven days. Is it ok to just finish the course or does the drug have to be tapered off?

From my experience you should be ok just to finish the course -they only tend to taper if you’re on high dose steroids a lot, or require maintenance steroids. They usually take this into consideration when they prescribe them initially.

If you only have enough for seven days then just finish the course you will be fine.

My doctor requires me to taper off ONLY if I go beyond the initial 7 days on a 40mg per day dosage. You probably don't need to taper off if you're only on this dose for 7 days but your doctor should be your source for an answer.
