Mild anxiety inhaler side effect

Hi,

I was diagnosed with asthma 6 months ago. I have had no success getting it under control. Mainly I have mucus and a cough. I initially was put on seritide inhaler and montelcast tablet. I developed sleeplessness and a lot of pins and needles/burning in arms and legs. Dr suggested stopping tablet but there was no change. Dr then reversed this, stopping inhaler and staying on tablet. Pins and needles and insomnia went away. However after a month I developed tinnitus which went away on stopping tablet. For past two weeks I am back on a brown inhaler (clenil modulate), not a combination inhaler like seritide. But already pins and needles and insomnia are back. Does anyone have any similar experiences. If so did side effects go away. Did you find a solution. I need some medication as the mucus/cough is unbearable otherwise.

As you probably know there are numerous inhalers (combos and steroid-only). I'm on Fostair which seems to work reasonably well for me, but there are many others. Guess you may need to press your GP to try a few until you find something that suits you, but you’d probably need to give each at least a couple of weeks trial. Ref the Montelukast, I’m on that too. I know some folk have certain issues with it (like with all drugs). Have you discussed with your GP trying it on a lower dosage to see if you can get used to it that way, maybe upping the dose later if you get on ok?

Hi matman

I’m not really too knowledgeable on inhalers. So far I tried seritide and now the clenil. I haven’t taken it today and my chest has eased considerably through the day, cough has relaxed for now thank goodness. I’m starting to wonder if I am allergic in some way to the steroid. Do all steroid inhalers contain the same steroid.
