Hi I'm in Bournemouth area, fit as a fiddle 47 yr make from carpentry background. Been having cold like symptoms for 10 years and always goes to my chest and it becomes sore. Not with phlegm though! Last 5 years I've been allergic to perfume, aftetshave, deodorants, air fresheners and dust . I think I've also got heartburn as it feels my chest/eosoghagus is constantly irritated! Really making my life hell! Waking up with tight chest! Anyone out there got similar! Prob doesn't help that I eat chocolate and drink coffee with milk every day!!

Tight chest, irritated throat and eosoghagus. Constantly getting colds
Hi Leo, I too have not tolerated perfume, aftershave, airfreshener, candles, cleaning products, cigarette smoke etc etc for approx 6 years. I kept being told that I had a viral infection every time I took ill even though nobody else seemed to have it.
This year I was diagnosed with asthma and have 2 inhalers.
I have read on other posts about people having chest problems due to acid reflux.
You really need to see your gp to get this sorted.
if you take a corticosteroid type inhaler or tablets there are online studies that show these can cause reflux.
Reflux can cause upper airway inflammation or other problems like vocal chord dysfunction.
This is what happened to me, I only realised it was not asthma because my reliever didnt work as well as normal and my peak flow didnt drop but my chest felt really tight and i couldnt get a breath in.
I dont get any cold like symptoms but did have hayfeyer (tree pollen) for about 3 months.
