Scoliosis

I’ve just been told by the pulmonologist that inhalers won’t work for me because my breathing problems stem from significant scoliosis that has caused sunken chest and compression of my lungs and possibly my heart. He says if I do have asthma it’s mild. And that the only treatment is major surgery which he doesn’t recommend. Anyone have a similar diagnosis? I also have hyperthyroidism and wondering if this is all related and if there are other alternatives besides surgery.

I'd talk to your GP. There is another forum run by the British Lung Foundation - go to Home tab. They may help you. I wonder if you could see a specialist physiotherapist to help with your breathing? Also check out organisations for Scoliosis so that you are as informed as possible. All the best.
