I realise this information won't be required by many out there and that some of you may already be aware of this, but for those of you who don't know....today I was able to buy prednisone over the counter from an Italian pharmacist despite not having a prescription. I showed him the empty box of pred which I just finished this morning and translated a few sentences into Italian explaining I was asthmatic etc which I showed him in the form of a text message on my phone- attempting to speak Italian with a strong N. Ireland accent isn't easy!! Thankfully, I now have enough to last till I return home on Saturday. Just a shame my asthma flared up so badly on holiday π Thanks to those who got in touch re yesterday's post xx

Able to purchase prednisone over the counter in Italy without a prescription π It only cost β¬1.60!!!
That's great! People here can be so understanding and helpful. Just a word of warning: not EVERY pharmacist will help you out if you don't have a prescription. You found a very kind pharmacist. βΊ In emergencies one can also turn to the Pronto Soccorso at every hospital. (A &E). Long waits if you're not in immediate danger but very efficient and kind support. These days there will always be somebody around who can help interpret if necessary.
I think the pharmacist I saw was, as you say, very kind! I am just thankful he was willing to help, as I am still coughing like crazy, and would have been very anxious if he hadn't been able to sell me a further supply. I am really going to have to be a lot more pushy in asking for a supply of prednisone to take away on holiday abroad in the future, as it has caused a lot of unnecessary stress, but at least I got to spend part of the day drinking coffee in beautiful Salo as that was where the nearest- accessible for us - pharmacist was to where we are holidaying! Hopefully I can get to enjoy my husband's birthday now! Take care π
