Miracle cure?

My MIL, 93, diagnosed in her 60s by hospital specialist. Has frequently needed steroids in the past when she stopped using inhalers as she felt ok! Since 2015 and a move to Cumbria, GP and asthma nurses say no need for inhalers! I cannot understand how severe asthma like hers can just disappear. Any ideas?

This could possibly be due to the change in climate and amount of air pollution.
