Hi Cdonohoe27

Welcome to the forum. The short answer is that it depends on your asthma. Julia explains on this page how traditional yoga has helped her: bit.ly/2Bv7iWP

Our nurses advice would be:

- be aware of what might trigger your asthma, some people feel going from cold to warm can trigger asthma symptoms with the humid, moist air.= in a hot yoga class

- Make sure you have your blue reliever inhaler with you.

- Let the instructor know that you have asthma and you might be affected by the heat and temperature.

Do give the nurses' helpline a call on 0300 222 5800 (M-F, 9-5) to talk it through further.

Hope that helps,

Dita

Hi Dita,

That's really helpful, thank you very much for the advice. I will speak to the teacher in advance of the class.

Thanks again,

Carol

I love hot yoga, and I have not had any problems with it. I agree with Ditas advice. Take it easy the first few times!

I find when I am teaching a relaxation/stretching class in air that is what I feel too warm it triggers my asthma! So it depends on you!

I love yoga, have never tried hot yoga. I do find some of the poses make it harder for me to breath and I have to modify. My instructor is brilliant and very aware of my asthma. Xxx
