That would completely depend on what your Eosiniphil count is or FeNo, once these levels start to decrease they will and if clinically indicated begin to step down treatment.

As Wheezy19543 says it would need to be clinically indicated ie going on asthma control test, peak flow, etc . I always have normal eosinophils and often normal FENO but there have been no plans to reduce my Fostair Nexthaler 200/6, probably as I am still not that well controlled.

I think 6 months well controlled is the usual indication to try reducing, but if you were having significant problems before the dose was increased and you are under secondary care, they may be reluctant to decrease without a good long period of control. How long have you been on this dose?

have been struggling for quite a while but I recently came out of hospital recovering from very bad flu which meant i couldn't get my breath and was having asthma attacks 5-5 having having times a day (having a pacemaker and having valve replacement I felt very insecure)went to my doctor when I felt I was not recovering enough(very breathless and feeling I wasn't and now taking deep enough breaths hence fostair200 feeling so much better hence my question of how long I will be on this medication?

I think it depends more on how you feel. If it makes you feel ok and you stabilise on this dose, you might as well stay on it - you'll have to trust your GP's judgement. If you feel that your problm is that you don't breathe deeply enough, ask to go on a Pulmonary Rehabilitation course, usually run by your local hospital. I found this course really helpful so perhaps you might too.
