Asthma Excerbation

Hi guys, my first time posting on here.

I was diagnosed with asthma at the age of 11. though i have never really had many symptoms unless i have had a cold or chest infection. However since the start of this year i have had a constant wheeze with coughing chest tightness and a high pulse. it feels like i am getting an attack everyday now. i have been on steroids for almost 4 weeks now but there doesnt seem to be much help from them. i am currently taking sabutamol fostaire and triotropium. My doctors has finally decided they will refer me to the respiratory clinic so i am just waiting for the letter to come through for an appointment. i just feel so frustrated at the moment and if i attend the A&E when i feel bad by the time someone sees me my oxygen level is usually about 96 so they just look at me like I am there for no reason and give me more steroids and tell me to go home. does anyone have any advice on how to cope in the mean time?

Hi Killjoyxxx

Sorry to hear your asthma's been worse this year. Can I suggest you give the Asthma UK nurse team a call on 0300 222 5800 (M-F, 9-5). they'll be able to advise you and talk through your medication and next steps.

There's some information here about recovering when you've been in hospital: bit.ly/2ERjHUA

Hope that helps,

Dita
