Pharmacy dispensing generic meds

Does anyone have problems with their pharmacy dispensing generic meds’ that they’re not stable on? If so how do you solve it?

My gp specifies a brand of montelukast I know I’m stable on, the pharmacy gave me a different brand. Since then my control is worse and I’m not sure what to do. Any ideas

Hi Hidden

I asked your question to the Asthma UK nurse team and they've advised it's really rare for people to not have as good control with different tablet forms of montelukast as the active ingredient is the same across all versions of the drug. here's some information here about montelukast and other leukotriene receptor antagonists (LTRAs): bit.ly/2ytnre7

So it you feel you are having problems, it's worth going back to your GP and talking about your asthma getting worse.

Hope that helps,

Dita
