Good asthma control?... if there's little /no inflammation there should be little/no mucus

I use an OTC chesty cough bottle from any supermarket, usually own brand. One that contains guifenestin (hope that is how it is spelled) Tesco’s own has it in . Has been the best one for me and Doc says I’m fine to use it whenever I feel the need I have Asthma & Emphysema

You can certainly try cough medicines and keep hydrated as it is said to help thin the mucus. Ask your GP for an appointment with a physio - ideally one in the respiratory team at your local hospital, for ways to manage your asthma better, assuming you are taking your medication in the best way.

My GP supplies Carbocisteine, it makes the mucus less sticky and easier to get rid of.

Lots of fluids to keep Mucus Thin and therefore easier to expel.

Also, because Inhaled Meds have difficulty penetrating Mucus, it may help to split / slightly stagger your Inhaled Meds in such a way that the first inhalation has time to loosen your Mucus and provoke coughing up some phlemg while the second dose (maybe 30 minutes later) can therefore better reach your lung lining because there's less Mucus for it to penetrate.

As Chip has already commented, Inflammation is a root cause, so discovering the right Meds and adhering to the dose and schedule is critical. Also any dietary changes that contribute to reduced inflammation may help (e.g. cutting out inflammatory stuff and increasing anti-inflammatory stuff).

This info is purely my opinion so always check with your Doc first before adopting suggestions.
