Hi, my 11yo daughter has developed asthma as aresult of her hayfever. She was given the blue inhaler which worked to start with but now doesn't seem to work for her so the doctor has prescribed a brown inhaler. Does anyone have any tips on helping her constant cough/wheeze while she waits for the effects of the brown inhaler to kick in?

Hi Megsmum16
Sorry to hear of your daughter's diagnosis. I ran your query past our nurse team and Caroline suggested to try anti-histamine and nasal spray to treat hay fever and if her blue inhaler (ventolin) isn't lasting for 4 hours then she might need oral steroids.
There's more information on the website about medications and asthma management for children here: bit.ly/2r8eyUj
Please do give our nurses helpline a call to talk through medications and symptoms, you can reach them on 0300 222 5800 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm).
Thanks,
Dita
